Position: Finance Manager                              

Location: Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.

Small Mammal Conservation Organization (SMACON) is looking to hire a committed and ethical Nigerian for the position of “Finance Manager”. The responsibility of this team member will be to employ their experience and skillset to maintain, manage, and report SMACON’s financial activities.

Salary for this position is competitive.

Scope / Responsibilities

  • Manage SMACON finances and accounting.

  • Manage and upgrade office financial systems.

  • Prepare financial annual reports and statements

  • Ensure prompt entry of financial activities into accounting software

  • Prepare budgets for grant applications

  • Ensure SMACON meets donors’ financial reporting requirements  

  • Ensure that SMACON complies with federal, state, and local financial requirements and tax-related matters, and advice Management team on required actions.

  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls

  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by in-depth analyses of account information and financial records.


Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum of B.Sc/BA/HND in Accounting, Management or related disciplines.

  • ICAN or equivalent certifications will be an added advantage.

  • Must be able to work with QuickBooks.


  • Must have experience in bookkeeping.

  • Bank and auditor liaison.

  • Relevant post qualification experience.

  • Prior experience in a non-profit will be an added advantage.


  • Should be fluent in spoken and written English.

  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Analytical, physically organized, and good report writing skills.

  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of financial systems, financial management, and reporting.

  • Must be a good team player.
