SENSIBILISATION.

The Anape Natural Science Research Station will serve as a permanent base for ecological research, training, and conservation on the Obudu Plateau. Located within the landscape of Cross River National Park, Anape sits in one of Nigeria's richest biodiversity zones: home to rare bats, forest elephants, drills, chimpanzees, and species still being discovered.

Phase 1 underway

Currently under development: construction of the management and administration building, which is a four-unit block providing the administrative and operational support for the station.

Phase 1: Management & Administration Unit

A 25-person capacity residential complex with multiple wet and dry labs, indoor and outdoor experiment rooms, and dedicated teaching spaces. Designed to support acoustic, biomechanical, and ecological research.

Phase 2: Research Complex

The Obudu Plateau is one of Nigeria's most understudied and ecologically significant landscapes. It is the only known location in Nigeria for the Upland Horseshoe Bat (Rhinolophus hillorum). Permanent research infrastructure at Anape will enable continuous, long-term monitoring and expand the scientific understanding of this critical habitat.

Alongside the Afi Biodiversity Centre, Anape completes a two-station network anchoring our long-term conservation plan across southern Nigeria.
