Support The Expansion.
After 4 zero-wildfire years of our Early Warning Wildfire Prevention Program at Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary, we are scaling up expanding this successful program to the Oban Division of Cross River National Park (CRNP). This is Nigeria’s largest contiguous forest block, last of its kind, covering a whopping 400,000 hectares - 40 times bigger than Afi!

Here is what your support covers:

Fund A Fire Guardian
At the heart of this expansion are 100 newly recruited Forest Guardians who will work tirelessly during fire season to stop wildfires that originate on farms from expanding into critical bat habitat at the 400,000 hectare national park. $50,000 will provide stipends and protective gear for the Fire Guardians to protect this vast landscape for one year. Support a Forest Guardian with $500/year.

Equip Rapid Response
Fire Guardians on a motorcycle? Wildfires don’t stand a chance! With rugged terrains and unmotorable roads, a motorcycle is the quickest way to respond to fire alerts in these rural communities. $50,000 will fund 50 motorcycles for rapid response to wildfires. Donate $1,000 to buy 1 mototrcycle.

Scout Wildfires
We are taking our expansion plan to new heights with aerial surveillance! With the help of drones, we will be able to scout wildfires and provide real-time alerts for our dedicated on-the-ground firefighters. Together, we can make this a reality as just $10,000 will fund the purchase of 2 drones to help us in this crucial mission.
